In the spring of 2023, I voted to approve the installation of AEDs, which are devices that can potentially save lives, in the Village Parks and certain other locations within the Village. This effort was motivated by a discussion with MG baseball about the necessity of having these devices accessible, following an incident where an NFL player suffered cardiac arrest during a game.
The Village successfully utilized ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Funds to install AEDs in Village Parks, well houses, and lift stations. With the increasing amenities in our parks attracting more visitors, I believe the installation of these devices underscores our commitment to enhancing safety measures for all users. The availability of AEDs is crucial, as immediate defibrillation can significantly improve survival chances while awaiting EMS arrival.
The AEDs are stored in heated cabinets accessible 24/7/365. In an emergency, users should first call 911, after which the operator will provide an access code, allowing the user to obtain the equipment.
